For potato growers, Curzate™ fungicide is the heart of an effective preventative late blight program. It’s highly effective because of its preventative, post-infection and antisporulant activity. Curzate delivers unique kick-back action and deals with disease at the point of infection.

Benefits

Curzate fungicide is a powerful, locally-systemic fungicide registered for the control of late blight when tank-mixed with Manzate® Pro-Stick™. Curzate is the only systemic fungicide to feature post-infection protection from late blight in the field. Post-infection activity is an integral part to a multi-level approach in controlling late blight.

Preventative

Curzate inhibits sporangium and zoospore germination. This activity is synergized in combination with Manzate® Pro-Stick™ protectant fungicide.

Post-infection activity

When Curzate is applied 1 to 3 days after infection and before symptoms appear(1), it can stop initial stem and foliar lesion development. Curzate provides up to 72 Hours of post-infection disease control. (1) Curzate will not control late blight when it has advanced to the infectious stage and lesions are visible.

Antisporulant

Curzate suppresses sporulation, reducing total spore counts and reducing spore viability on already developed stem lesions. Oospore development is also inhibited where conditions are present for sexual reproduction.

Valuable resistance management tool

Curzate is the only Group 27 fungicide so it controls the disease at a unique site of action. Curzate should be used as part of a proactive disease management program to ensure multiple modes-of-action are used in controlling late blight.

  • Application Method
Aerial - Apply by air with a minimum water volume of 50 L/ha. Do not handle more than 50 kg of Curzate 60 DF fungicide per day for aerial applications.
Ground - Do not mix and apply more than 38 kg of Curzate 60 DF fungicide per day for ground application (enough to treat 170 hectares).
  • Approved Use
Refer to the Curzate label for complete use instructions.
Refer to the Controlled Diseases list for the full list of diseases.
  • Rates
    • 90 g/ac (225 g/ha) with 0.54 Kg/ac – 0.64 Kg/ac
    (1.35 Kg/ha – 1.6 Kg/ha) of Manzate® Pro-Stick™ fungicide

    Pre-harvest interval - 8 days
    Re-entry interval - 24 Hours
  • Application Timing
    • Initial applications should start when local conditions indicate that late blight is imminent; make additional applications at 5–7 day intervals, however at least 20 days must pass between the 2nd and 3rd application.
    • If disease conditions are present during this 20 day period, a fungicide other than Curzate must be used to protect the crop during this period.
    • Apply no more than 4 applications per crop.
    • May be applied by air. Apply by air with a minimum water volume of 50 L/ha. Do not handle more than 50 kg of Curzate 60 DF fungicide per day for aerial applications.
    • Maximum for ground application is 38kg.
    • The disease early blight is controlled by the registered tank-mix with a Group M fungicide.
  • Mixing Instructions
    1) Ensure the spraying equipment is clean. Fill spray tank 1/4 to 1/3 full with clean water and engage agitation. Prepare mixture volume to apply a minimum of 200 litres spray volume per hectare.
    2) With the agitator running, add the required amount of Curzate 60 DF Fungicide to the spray tank. Then add the required amount of Manzate® DF fungicide or Manzate® Pro-Stick™ fungicide to the spray tank while maintaining the spray solution agitation.
    3) Continue to agitate until Curzate 60 DF fungicide and Manzate® DF fungicide or Manzate® Pro-Stick™ fungicide are completely dispersed.
    4) Completely fill the remainder of the spray tank with water.
    5) On repeat tank loads, draw down the tank contents to less than 10% of the original volume, and repeat from step 1. If more than 10% of the spray volume remains, pre-slurry the Curzate 60 DF fungicide and Manzate® DF fungicide or Manzate® ProStick™ fungicide in a bucket of water before adding to the spray tank.

    NOTE:
Continuous agitation is required to keep CURZATE® 60 DF Fungicide and MANZATE® DF Fungicide or MANZATE® Pro-Stick™ Fungicide in suspension in the spray tank for a uniform application.
Use spray preparation of CURZATE® 60 DF Fungicide and MANZATE® DF Fungicide or MANZATE® Pro-Stick™ Fungicide within 48 Hours or product degradation may occur. If
spray preparation is left standing without agitation, thoroughly agitate before spraying.
Do not mix, load or apply within 15 metres of all wells
